BIOGRAPHY Buying a house is probably the single largest purchase most people make in their lifetime and, of course, we each have our own unique requirements when it comes to finding that dream home. There will be many different properties to consider within the budget you’ve set – but finding that perfect home might seem like a weighty task. It needn’t be. Let me lift the weight from your shoulders with proven Championship Performance. Born in Edmonton, Alberta in 1958, into an airforce family – with my father a Flight Engineer and my aunt an Aero Engine Technician, I grew up around planes. In high school I took Jewelry Arts and at 18 I worked as
a repair goldsmith for Birk's in Winnipeg. However, my airforce family background, and my own love
of aircraft naturally led me to consider a military career and, at the age
of 21, I joined the Canadian Armed Forces, at my father’s urging. He
suggested that I should pursue a career as an aero engine technician, or
airframe technician. Well, I ended up exactly where I wanted to be: Private
Rhonda Peterson (otherwise known as Petie) Airframe 512 TQ3. Including perhaps some more unusual activities for a woman [such as firing FNC1s, FNC2s, 9mm pistols and machine guns and running 10 mile obstacle courses with 11 lbs. of webbing gear and an 11 lb. rifle on my back] I learned some invaluable life skills such as how to “finish what I started”…”never give up”…and, “be strong” – all qualities which have enabled me to provide my clients with dedicated service which ultimately results in achieving their goals. During my time in the services I competed at 4 Nationals
and 5 World's as a powerlifter, breaking National records many times. I
started this in 1979 and have been lifting for roughly 25 years. When I
became a civilian I competed at two more Canadians and two more Worlds
finishing up in 1995 in Tokyo, Japan with 5th in the world in my weight
class and the Canadian Over-All Champion of Champions. I put three new Canadian records under my belt that
year.
After 7 years I left the armed forces to devote time to
marriage, motherhood, and a new career as a civilian. I also began a
four year apprenticeship as a carpenter and was indentured to Local 527
Union Hall in Nanaimo. When I became a Journeyman the economy was pretty
soft and work was hard to get but I had the good fortune to work
on some extremely interesting projects, including The Cedar Road Overpass,
The Port Theatre Project and the Inland Island Highway Project. Most of my
experience is in engineered concrete and steel structures. Because of
the soft market, I eventually left the trade and went into sales. For a few years I worked in
jewelry sales. I worked at and managed a jewelry store and later became a
sales rep for Alsco Nanaimo. I made it to 6th in sales in Canada in about 6
months. Excellent training in the armed forces provided me with,
amongst other useful attributes, good organizational skills and a
well-disciplined approach to providing solutions.
My friends and family began to urge me to become a Realtor and saw my carpentry, sales & marketing background as a natural transition into the business. I realized I could put my sales and carpentry background to far better use as a Realtor so I took the course and wrote for my license and have never looked back; I love what I do! As a Journeyman carpenter, I bring to the real estate business a unique insight and perspective on home buying since I can often identify flaws which might otherwise go unnoticed …until later…and at great cost. As well, I can provide input on the viability of any modifications to a property which you might be considering. I am not a Home Inspector - and I will always suggest
using one in any purchase. However, clients have found my carpentry
background to be particularly helpful, especially first-time buyers. Even
the more experienced individual has benefited from my knowledge of
carpentry. My approach when helping clients with their real estate business is always to listen carefully to what they want. You will find me a good listener - and I will take on board your ideas, opinions, and requirements. By listening carefully to exactly what you want, taking your instructions, following through on them, and providing professional advice I am able to deliver the highest level of service … from initial contact through to successful completion whether you are buying or selling. As your Realtor, I can guarantee that my service will not only meet, but exceed your expectations. This is my mission statement – both in my business and my life. I will help you find that perfect gem: the home that you really want…and I won’t give up until that goal is achieved! In 1995, against extremely high odds and with a busy lifestyle as a wife and working mother, I became the Canadian Over-All Powerlifting Champion and placed 5th at the World Championships. I have drive, stamina, discipline and conviction in everything I do and am always prepared to go the extra distance for you the ensure that your dreams become a reality. Together we will make a winning team – one which achieves your goals and objectives – to get the new home of your dreams or sell your existing real estate, quickly, efficiently and, of course, most profitably. May I go to work for you? |
